Washington County Busted Records
The official Sheriff page describes the agency's role, and it does not currently list a public roster, booking-photo gallery, or recent-bookings feed. A person taken into custody lands with the Sheriff's Office, the county's central custody agency. Those who stay in local lockup go to the Washington County Detention Center, sometimes called the Washington County Jail. A booking photo may be taken when someone enters detention. But an existing photo and a photo posted online are two different things. Even when nothing surfaces in a web search, a record can still sit in an agency file. The pieces are scattered: the arresting agency, the jail, the court clerk, state corrections, and federal systems each keep their own slice.
Washington County busted records list arrest and booking details gathered during the county's intake process. For the official legal outcome of any case, the court disposition remains the controlling document.
Washington County Busted Booking Fields
No official field list is published, so think of the items below as things a requester can ask a records custodian to search for. Keep the boundaries straight, though. A local booking number is one thing. A North Carolina case number and an NCDAC offender ID are others entirely. A shared name alone proves nothing about identity.
| Field | What it means |
|---|---|
| Full name | Name entered by the detaining agency. Spelling can differ across jail, court, state, and federal systems. |
| Booking number | Local detention identifier, if assigned. No Washington County number format was verified. |
| Booking date and time | The intake event, not the alleged conduct or a later conviction. |
| Arresting agency | The agency that made or submitted the arrest. The Sheriff covers the county outside Plymouth; Plymouth also has a municipal police department. |
| Charges as booked | Accusations entered at intake. They can be amended, reduced, dismissed, or resolved by a court. |
| Statute or offense code | The code connected to a charge. Check it against the charging document or court record. |
| Bond or conditions | An amount or release condition set by an authorized judicial officer, if recorded. |
| Booking photograph | An identification image when made and retained. Its existence does not prove online publication. |
| Physical descriptors | Age, sex, height, weight, hair, eyes, or related fields, which may be incomplete or outdated. |
| Facility and status | County custody, transfer, release, or another custody system. Local, state, federal, and ICE statuses differ. |
| Release or transfer | The end or change of local custody. No Washington County web-persistence rule was verified. |
| Court date and case number | Events after booking, searchable through public eCourts records when not restricted. |
| Disposition | A court result such as dismissal, not guilty, plea, judgment, or deferred resolution. |
Always pin down where a record came from. Timing matters too. A news story answers one question. A jail entry, a court register, a state profile, and a federal locator each answer a different one. Blend them into a single claim and error follows. Treat every source on its own terms.
Request Washington County Busted Records
North Carolina has no single statewide request form. No form exists that every agency must accept. Chapter 132 does give the public a right to inspect records and get copies. That right runs into limits: confidentiality rules, redaction, and lawful charges. Agencies can refuse to build a new spreadsheet or write a summary just for you. There is no county booking-photo form and no dedicated records-unit phone line. The Sheriff's published business number is where to start.
- Call the Washington County Sheriff’s Office at 252-793-2422 and ask who receives booking-record requests. Use 252-793-1107 for a current custody question.
- Identify the existing record: full legal name, approximate booking date, arresting agency if known, and whether the request is for the intake record, photograph, or both.
- Ask for an electronic copy if available, the legal reason for any withholding or redaction, and the duplication, mailing, or special-service fee before a charge is incurred.
- Keep the request and response. If the office directs requesters to the official county contact form, preserve the submission.
Inspection itself is free under the state's public-records overview. Copies, mailing, and special services may carry lawful fees. No county booking-photo charge or guaranteed turnaround exists on paper. "Promptly" does not mean same-day. Response time can stretch with identity review, redaction needs, the age of the record, and whether a case file is involved.
North Carolina Mugshot Law
North Carolina Chapter 132 covers records made or received in public business, and that includes photographs an agency holds. The rule is broad but not absolute. Other statutes can restrict access, require redaction, or shield juveniles, sealed cases, confidential matters, and protected personal details. The state overview confirms that inspection is free, no fixed procedure is required, and agencies need not create records they never kept.
N.C. Gen. Stat. § 15A-502 governs photographing and fingerprinting people charged with felonies or misdemeanors for law-enforcement files. It does not force Washington County to publish images online, meet a web deadline, or run a public gallery. Photos tied to juvenile alleged delinquency face extra restrictions. The law supports careful requests, never a guarantee of public release.
No enacted North Carolina law bans mugshot publication statewide, creates a free takedown right, or blocks pay-to-remove schemes. Bills introduced in the legislature do not count as current law.
Qualifying people can seek an expunction. That process removes, seals, or destroys state arrest, charge, or conviction records under a specific statute. File the petition with the clerk in the county where the charge or conviction happened. The Judical Branch expunction information page carries current forms and details. One caution applies. An order does not scrub private copies, news archives, or search-engine indexes on its own. Ask the publisher for a free correction or removal first. Use an outdated-content tool only after the source itself has changed.
Never pay an intermediary just because it claims payment is required. Check the court order instead. Check the agency's correction route and the publisher's current free policy too. Skip sending identity or financial details nobody actually needs.
Find Washington County Busted Records
Where you search depends on custody status. Someone booked an hour ago may be known to the jail long before any public page updates. A released person is different. That name can vanish from a live list while the booking record stays on file with the Sheriff. Once a sentence moves someone into state custody, the picture changes again. That person belongs in NCDAC, not a county jail lookup.
- Call Washington County Detention at 252-793-1107 for current custody. This is not a request for a historical photograph.
- Ask the Sheriff at 252-793-2422 how to request an existing booking record or photo. State a name and date range.
- Search North Carolina eCourts by exact name or case number, select Washington County, and review public events and disposition.
- Use the NCDAC search only for state prison, probation, or parole records.
- For federal or immigration custody, use BOP or ICE, recognizing that neither is a Washington County booking-photo source.
Third-party indexes can surface old records, but they cannot confirm who is in custody right now. A direct answer from the right custodian beats a stale search result every time.
Where Busted Mugshots Appear
Several record channels exist for Washington County, yet none currently offers an official public roster or same-day booking feed. Start with the official custody and records contacts. Treat news pages and third-party sites as leads only.
| Channel | Photo? | Official? | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| Detention office | Not promised | Yes | Call 252-793-1107 for current custody. |
| Sheriff records request | Ask if held and releasable | Yes | Call 252-793-2422 under Chapter 132. |
| County roster or feed | Not verified | Not currently located | Recheck the Sheriff page before trusting a new link. |
| eCourts | Usually not a booking photo | Yes | Search public case events and dispositions. |
| NCDAC | Not guaranteed | Yes | State prison, probation, and parole records only. |
| Roanoke Beacon, WITN, Observer | May show an editorial or agency image | No | Read selected local coverage, then verify with the custodian. |
| Busted Newspaper | Historical page includes photos | No | Washington County index, apparently ending around January 2018. |
| Mugshots.com | Historical index may show photos | No | Washington County index, not a live Sheriff roster. |
Note: RecentlyBooked, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone had no verified Washington County, North Carolina local section during the August 28, 2026 review.
For current details, the official Sheriff page is the place to recheck custody contacts and watch for any future roster link.
It does not display a gallery or establish a current public booking-photo feed.
Washington County Busted Jail Roster
Washington County does not publish a jail roster, inmate search form, or booking-results portal on its county website. No sitemap entry turned up one either. That gap does not mean the jail sits empty. It means the county has not built a public interface for bookings. For now, anyone checking on a person in custody has two routes. The detention facility handles live custody questions. The Sheriff's office handles records.
| Possible search field | Verified online? |
|---|---|
| Name | No current public interface was verified. |
| Booking number | No public format or search box was verified. |
| Booking date | No date filter or time window was verified. |
| Charge or bond | No public field set was verified. |
| Photo | No current public photo-display policy was located. |
| Release status | No online persistence or removal rule was published. |
If the county adds a portal later, note the exact URL and what it shows. Fields matter. So does the photo policy. Check the timestamp on each entry and how often the list refreshes. One caution: never assume a national directory reflects a county-run interface.
- Call detention for whether a person is currently held.
- Ask the Sheriff for the request recipient and whether a photo is maintained and releasable.
- Compare an official custody answer with the public court case, without turning a name match into an identity conclusion.
No Washington County Sheriff app turned up. No verified booking-photo or booking-alert social account exists either. The state does offer one official notification option. NC SAVAN, described by NCDAC, sends custody notifications without photos. Its reach is broad. Coverage spans county-jail inmates, state prisoners, probationers, parolees, and registered sex offenders.
Busted Washington County Bookings
No one verifies a live Washington County booking feed. Hourly, daily, weekly, archived? Unknown. No source publishes a posting time. There is no stated overnight refresh rule, weekend policy, or photo cadence. No release-removal schedule exists either. A Wednesday news story may describe something days old. Worse, its photo could be a scene shot or an agency handout, not a booking photo at all.
Feed limitation: call 252-793-1107 if someone may be in custody right now. Need an old booking record or photograph? The Sheriff at 252-793-2422 can explain the request path. Treat no search snippet as a same-day arrest log.
Two third-party archives exist, both dated. The old Busted Newspaper county page seems to stop around January 2018, and it warns its information may be incomplete or untimely. The Mugshots.com index offers older date filters and city links but is equally unofficial. Neither gives a current booking cadence for Washington County. City police do not close the gap. No Plymouth Police daily arrest log could be confirmed, and no Roper or Creswell municipal blotter exists either. The Roanoke Beacon, WITN, and Albemarle Observer pick stories and run calls for coverage. Their silence tells you nothing about total bookings.
North Carolina State Custody
The North Carolina Department of Adult Correction search reaches people in state prison, on probation, or on parole, with historical coverage back to 1972. Search by exact name or offender ID. Results show status, facility, supervision type, and dates. Remember what this is: a state custody and supervision source, not a Washington County jail roster. NCDAC states plainly that it does not hold county police or court records. Policy D-0600 restricts release of offender photographs to defined purposes, including public safety, law enforcement, apprehension, and essential news identification. So a photo is not guaranteed here. Someone booked and quickly released, held pretrial, or kept in county custody may not show up at all.
Booked or Released: Record Location
Custody status changes fast. No public record can keep pace. A blank search result answers nothing about where a person sits or what happened in court. So match each question to the source that owns it.
| Custody stage | Best source | What it can show |
|---|---|---|
| Just booked or still local | Washington County Detention | Current custody guidance. No public roster was verified. |
| Released or transferred | Sheriff records request | An existing booking record or photo, if maintained and releasable. |
| After court activity | eCourts and Clerk | Public case events, hearings, and disposition, subject to restrictions. |
| State sentence or supervision | NCDAC | State prison, probation, or parole information and possible photo limits. |
| Federal custody | BOP locator | Federal status and location, not a local booking photo. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | ICE custody under its search limits, not proof of a county booking. |
After a Washington County Booking
Booking starts a case. It does not end one. The first appearance is an early court event where release or bond issues may come up. Later comes the disposition, meaning the court's recorded result: dismissal, a plea, a judgment, or another resolution. The public eCourts Portal shows parties, case events, hearings, and dispositions for public, nonconfidential cases. Search the exact legal name or case number. Select Washington County, then scan the matching parties and case types. Open the register of actions from there. Confirm both the county and the identity before concluding anything. Some things stay hidden. That includes unreturned warrants, juvenile matters, protective orders, and sealed or confidential cases.
Read the disposition: the booking entry is only the opening line of a case, and the court's recorded result is what the file turns on.
The Washington County Clerk of Superior Court sits at 120 Adams Street, PO Box 901, Plymouth, NC 27962. The listed number is 252-791-4000. Remember what the Clerk keeps: the court record, not necessarily the Sheriff's booking photograph. Ask whichever custodian actually holds what you need.
Washington County Busted Custody Paths
The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator searches federal inmates incarcerated from 1982 forward by name or register number. Results may include status, location, age, sex, and release-date details. BOP cautions that release dates can lag during time-credit review. A result of "Released" or "Not in BOP Custody" does not rule out state, county, parole, or other custody. The ICE Online Detainee Locator covers people in ICE custody and certain recent CBP custody. It needs an A-number plus country of birth, or exact biographical details. It cannot search anyone under 18, and it shows no Washington County booking photo. No source confirms that Washington County holds ICE detainees under contract. Federal and immigration status must be checked in the system that owns the record.
Washington County Busted Archives
North Carolina runs its own alert system. It's called NC SAVAN. You can sign up for phone, email, text, or TTY notices covering county inmates, state prisoners, probationers, parolees, and registered sex offenders. Think of each alert as a custody event rather than a booking-photo publication.
The state-approved sheriff retention schedule splits this material into separate series: criminal histories, identification photographs, inmate records, and inmate list reports. Item 44 permits some ID photos to be destroyed after three years if they never became part of a case file. Material that did join a case file follows a different rule. Item 53 covers incarceration records, and those can be destroyed three years after an inmate is released or transferred. These are retention rules only. Nothing guarantees that every image vanishes on schedule, and none of it promises that old images move to the State Archives.
No county-specific transfer or public archive of booking photos is known. If you need an old record, ask the Sheriff's Office whether it still sits in a case file or an inactive series. When a record has moved elsewhere, ask for the receiving archive and the accession details. Newspaper collections like the Roanoke Beacon may hold historical coverage. Still, an article is not a complete booking database.
Washington County Busted Cities
All three incorporated places in Washington County have their own city pages here. Their enforcement paths differ, though. Plymouth fields its own municipal police department. Roper and Creswell fall under Sheriff coverage, and neither town has a municipal booking feed. When someone stays in county custody, they end up at the Washington County Detention Center regardless of the arresting agency.
| Place | Local path |
|---|---|
| Plymouth Busted Mugshots | Largest incorporated place and county seat. Plymouth Police is listed at 124 E Water Street with 252-793-9101; no daily arrest log was verified. |
| Roper Busted Mugshots | County Sheriff route. No separately operated police department or town booking feed was verified. |
| Creswell Busted Mugshots | County Sheriff route. Regional news may mention calls, but no town booking feed was verified. |
Start with the city page for agency and news context. Then go back to the source that fits the custody stage, whether that is the detention center, the Sheriff, the Clerk of Court, or NCDAC.
